Beauty Loop July: staff secret ballot winners
This month's Beauty Loop box is a selection of Staff Secret Ballot Winners, from this year's Mecca Beauty Election. The selection I got didn't include some of the products I really wanted to try out, bad news for me, but great for you as I have used 3 of these products for a long time already :)
HOURGLASS Veil Mineral Primer SPF15: I'm sure all you beauty junkies have heard about this primer in your travels, and if not, this comes highly recommended! It waterproofs makeup like all primers are generally supposed to do, while making foundation easier to apply. I have been using this primer since it became available to purchase in Australia, which has been quite a while now; and what I love about it and Hourglass is that it stands true to what the brand represents -luxury performance makeup. It's amazing quality and you really do feel like it's smoothing out your pores and or lines, and it's actually doing its job.
Noskam rating: This is my go to primer and nothing compares -I've tried quite a few. I hands down recommend this as the holy grail of all primers!
BAREMINERALS Lash Domination Volumising Mascara: I bought this during Mecca's Holiday Haul at Christmas in a duo pack and instantly loved it. I couldn't believe how affordable it was and compared to the higher end of price points for mascaras, I felt this delivered more. It does depend on what you want from a mascara and obviously that's why there are so many out there. This is a volumising mascara, but it also separated the lashes evenly without clumping or giving off back-splash and even lengthened them a bit. So for me I got everything I wanted in a mascara.
Noskam rating: This is in my top choice of mascaras, and stayed tuned as I'm going to be reviewing a bunch of mascaras I have been testing out the last few months. I will certainly be buying this again!
PHILOSOPHY Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser: This cleanser is a best-selling liquid cleansing emulsion that removes make-up as well. It doesn't foam and will remind you of the consistency of CETAPHIL, along with the fact it's gentle and non-stripping -awesome for sensitive skin! I have used a few of these sample bottles for a while now and yes it is definitely gentle and non-stripping, but, it reminds me too much of how CETAPHIL is.... I know obviously it's cleansing, but for me I don't feel like its cleansing the whole nine yards and still need a makeup remover too. I also have other cleansers that are also gentle but do way more for my skin.
Noskam rating: I will use this product if I have it and have been using it as a travel cleanser, as the sample bottle is the perfect size. However, I'm not in a hurry to purchase it as I prefer other cleansers. With that being said, if you have major skin issues and need something really simple/basic and gentle... then try this out! I feel like this is a step up from the CETAPHIL cleanser.
MECCA COSMETICA Lip De Luscious SPF25+: A traditional lip balm made with vitamin E and rich botanicals. It comes in a pot and is the right amount of gloss for what you would expect from a balm type lip gloss. It says it has a pink tint to it, I wouldn't go as far as to that, more like a natural colour with a bit of sparkle. It really isn't pink and can be worn under or over other lip colours (I do this if the lip colour I'm using needs some extra moisture).
Noskam rating: I hadn't tried this before and I'm actually liking it. It moisturises without being sticky or too glossy for a natural balm. I normally would prefer something in a tube but will be purchasing again.
